The Faculty of Data Science held the "Graduate Thesis Briefing Session for the 2023 Academic Year" at 3:00 pm on August 25, 2023, at the Ho Yin Conference Center HG03. It organized a thesis writing guidance and graduation requirement answering briefing for all postgraduate students, and shared thesis writing with graduate students, review and other related information. Associate Professor Wenjian Liu, Vice Dean of the faculty, Associate Professor Zuobin Ying, Coordinator of postraduate Programme, Assistant Professor Weng Tak Kuok, Coordinator of the Student and Academic Activities Course, and administrative staff of the faculty were invited to attend the meeting and provide guidance. Vice Dean Associate Professor Wenjian Liu explained the graduation policy and emphasized the content of submitted papers and the format requirements for related materials. Assistant Professor Weng Tak Kuok gave a detailed explanation of the academic standards for postgraduate students, including typical cases of academic misconduct, regulations on the construction of academic style in key universities at national and abroad, manifestations of academic misconduct, issues that need attention in writing, and chart processing. Students have a deeper understanding of the structure and logic of essay writing.
Finally, the Faculty administrators provided detailed instructions on the important thesis schedule, document list and precautions for graduate students at all levels. This briefing session deepened graduate students’ understanding of thesis requirements and helped them understand the time points and corresponding procedures for submitting thesis.
