Introduction 

 

1. Programme background

This course aims to align with the development plans of the Macao Special Administrative Region and the national digital economy development strategy. It will cultivate students with a broad and deep global perspective, the ability to communicate and collaborate across cultures, and the capacity to collaboratively solve complex problems and challenges facing humanity. Students will develop the potential to become outstanding artificial intelligence professionals; become thinkers and doers; possess a passion for lifelong learning and innovation; and have effective communication skills. The course also cultivates patriotic and Macao-oriented professionals in data science, artificial intelligence, and information security, combining theory and practice, analysis and application, to meet the needs of national and Macao development.

 

2. Cultivation Objectives 

Overall, the educational objectives of this course include:

  1. Establishing a foundation in mathematical knowledge and practical skills in innovative design for artificial intelligence;
  2. Understanding the needs of Macau's 1+4 diversified development strategy and applying what has been learned to serve its industrialization;
  3. Cultivating basic abilities for the industrialization of artificial intelligence;
  4. Developing the ability to identify, analyze, explain, and solve problems;
  5. Fostering a humanistic spirit of serving and caring for society;
  6. Understanding the impact and responsibilities of information technology on society and broadening international perspectives、

Notes:

  1. During the study period, students are required to complete the compulsory credits of general education, basic credits of specialization, elective credits of specialization and the requirements of various training links stipulated in the curriculum, and obtain 126 credits, which are distributed as follows:

 1.1 The compulsory modules in General Education in Table 1 are 18 credits;

 1.2 A total of 66 credits of specialization foundation modules in Table 2;

 1.3 Complete a total of 9 credits of specialization elective modules in Table 3;

 1.4 15 credits for final year project in Table 4;

 1.5 9 credits of elective modules in the General Education module in Table 5; (see note 2 for detail);

 1.6 and 9 credits of self-directed interdisciplinary electives. (see note 3 for detail)

  1. Students are required to choose at least 3 area from the 5 elective area of the General Education Elective Modules, and take at least one module (3 credits) in each area, for a total 9 credits.
  2. Students are required to take three specialization modules outside the faculty (excluding assignments/capstone projects and practice-based modules) to earn 9 credits. This requirement is designated by the University to cultivate students' interdisciplinary vision and self-directed learning ability.

4. Admission criteria 

Local and international students: 

  • Have a high school diploma; 
  • Those who are twenty-three years old or above are exempted from the prerequisite academic requirements for admission but must pass the university's entrance examination. 

Mainland students: 

  • Have a high school diploma; 
  • Participate in the National Unified Entrance Examination for Colleges and Universities (Summer College Entrance Examination) of that year.
