On January 19, the lecture “Quality Scientific Research Papers and Graduation Thesis Writing” organized by the Institute of Data Science was held in the HG02 Conference Hall of the Ho Hin Conference Center on the Taipa campus and was conducted online streaming and onsite with about 60 people present Teachers and students attended, 150 people watched online. Professor Zhou Wanlei, Vice Rector of our university, gave a speech on writing a scientific research paper and graduation thesis as the keynote speaker.
Professor Zhou Wanlei is the Vice Rector of the City University of Macau, in charge of academic affairs and Dean of the Institute of Data Science. In recent years, he has led and completed 13 Australian National Research Projects (ARCs) and successfully trained 30 PhDs. Professor Zhou has published over 400 academic papers in a range of international journals and international conferences, co-edited seven monographs, published four monographs, and served as the moderator of more than 30 international computer conferences.
The lectures revolved around the writing methods of scientific research papers and graduation thesis. In the writing part of the scientific research paper, Professor Zhou will provide an overview of the characteristics of excellent articles, including originality, impact and creative conception, and provide examples of high-quality papers. In terms of graduation thesis writing, Professor Zhou will analyze the key contents that a typical doctoral thesis should contain and its corresponding structure and show examples of excellent doctoral thesis. Finally, in the Q&A session, the students present and online were very enthusiastic in asking questions, and Professor Zhou answered their questions one by one. Professor Chow encourages students to read more and learn more from each other.
The wonderful lecture ended with warm applause. The students who attended the lecture said that the lecture gave them a deeper understanding of thesis writing and benefited a lot.
