Academician Fang Binxing is a senior authoritative scholar in the field of network and information security in China. He has long devoted himself to research on theories and key technologies of network and information security, with a comprehensive research framework covering a wide range of disciplines. His major research directions encompass numerous frontier areas, including information security architecture, network protocol analysis, IPv6 network technology, network emergency response and disposal, system disaster recovery, network intrusion detection, honeynet technology, computer virus defence, information acquisition and intelligent analysis, high-efficiency text matching algorithms, network robustness optimisation, grid computing and its security protection technologies. His work comprehensively supports the technological development and upgrading of China’s network and information security system.
In scientific research and technological breakthroughs, Academician Fang Binxing took the lead in conducting forward-looking research on computer virus defence technologies as early as 1989. In 1992, he published the monograph Computer Viruses and Their Prevention, establishing an important theoretical and practical reference framework for the early development of computer security protection in China. In the late 1990s, his research focus further expanded to network intrusion detection, continuously filling gaps in relevant domestic technological research. In 1999, Academician Fang Binxing pioneered the concept of constructing national information security infrastructure and led the development of relevant core systems. His efforts consolidated the technical foundation for building China’s national information security defence system, bearing far-reaching industrial influence and strategic significance.
In terms of academic achievements, Academician Fang Binxing persists in theoretical research and academic innovation, yielding abundant research outputs. As of March 2017, he has published more than 400 academic papers in key domestic and international core journals and top academic conferences, alongside three academic monographs.
